Check that out. Read. And look at the pictures. And don't blame me for any mental scars. You're all big enough to confront the worst.

Y'all remember that case Chani showed us a few days ago of the idiot parents? I suddenly developed sympathy for them, and got one of those feelings of utter despair for humanity.

Seriously. Are any of these folks Dubya's relations?

New Laptop [Apr. 5th, 2007|02:15 pm]
[mood |resigned]

The good news: I have a laptop at last!

The bad news: It was operating on that festering sore Vista.

The Ugly news: I've been installing XP and all the programs I need...for the last FOUR HOURS.

Uglier news: I'm still not done.

Ugliest news: I haven't even begun to transfer my things from my main computer to my laptop. :/

So, yeah. I have a fun night/weekend ahead. How's everyone else?

Wow, I'm pissed. [Feb. 20th, 2007|12:46 pm]

I should be writing an essay right now, but I'm too furious to churn out one of those glamorous papers I manage to produce when time is short and procrastination is gloating at me. Anyway, browsing the news, I came across this little award winner.

For those who don't like clicking links, the long and short of it is privileged little snot-nosed punks attacking homeless people for fun and entertainment, with a minimum of 20 murders as a result of this. Allow me to express my opinion of this in something very unlike my usual eloquence.

What the hell is wrong with a country when it's children decide it is their right and privilege to attack people who are already down on their luck? What the hell is wrong with a country where these same children will share beer or food with a man who has no bed to return to, and then beat him to death? The whole point of the word "companion" is that it is someone who you have shared a meal with, and in MOST cultures, that makes him a GUEST, and entitles him to certain protections by custom and tradition. I'M middle class too, and you don't see me taunting or harming the homeless. What should be done is to round up every last one of these middle-class bored brats and dump them onto the streets for a week, give them a taste of what it's like. Better yet, how about we round them all up, and dump them in some Third World Nation for a month, and the survivors will be allowed to rejoin society as productive members of it. This is an outrage, no matter how you slice it, and the fact that they're so childish as to blame video games is ridiculous. Blame your own failure to maintain traditions and standards, not something that has become a rehashed excuse for everything from failing out of college to Columbine.

Late updates are always more healthy [Feb. 16th, 2007|02:39 am]

[music |Alumina by Nightmare]

Anyway, this past weekend, I went all the way out to middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania to visit hitoshigeran and his friends. I also had the pleasant surprise of being literally glomped by daltiya while I was out there. Apparently, he plotted her as a special surprise solely for my arrival. After a weekend of chaos and pandemonium, I returned home after his two weather geek friends warned me of the coming huge winter storm, so I fled with due process back home. It took me three hours to go to his school, and it only took two to get back. FYI, speed limits are only a suggestion in middle of nowheres...>_> <_< Anyway, much to my dismay, I was unable to do my homework on my own computer because the programs wouldn't install due to Symantec probelms, so I had to BS them at the dorms. At the last minute. Again. Surprise, surprise.... Much to my annoyance, NJIT did not cancel school on Wednesday, though everybody else did, and I was forced to drive down in the unplowed roads and slick snow. The most interesting experience was that I spun out, lost control, did a 540 degree spin, and managed to stop my car an INCH from the divider. No damage to me or the car, since no one was in the area, and 20 is a nice wide highway. Of course, it wouldn't be New Jersey if some schmuck didn't decide to get out of his car to applaud me after I came to a halt, but eh... Anyway, I spent Wednesday slaving away at all the homeworks I didn't do all semester thus far, and next week is exam weeks. Huzzah... There, real update all done. Now, it's only a matter of centuries to the next one...=p

I weep! No Roman reinactments for me. T_T I would so LOVE to go to this too, but it's down in the middle of bloody nowhere. I am denied, damn it!

On an entirely unrelated note, what the hell is wrong with kids nowadays? My twelve-year-old sister cannot figure out fractions, decimals, and percents. FRACTIONS, DECIMALS, PERCENTS. You know, simple math? This is stuff I learned in second grade, not middle school. And I learned it almost instantly. And it's not just math that gives her trouble. English also futzes her up. Neither myself nor my mother is particularly tolerant of her academic foibles, especially because we know she's not stupid. She has all the time in the world to get her work done, and even more to study it in. It might be the difference between a private education and a public one, since even though we live in a nice town, public schools, at least from what I've seen, don't really match the caliber of private ones. Excluding college, anyway. NJIT rocks the Stevens Institute's world. Then again, our trial by fire scorches everyone...

I'm spending the night in the dorms; I have a council meeting in the morning. I may run for vice president of the council later this semester. I will now wait while everyone shudders in fear at the thought of me winning popular elections and set up a dictatorship. =p
